Cloud based payroll services

Newer generation cloud payroll software provides significant benefits vs traditional Excel spreadsheet methods. Payroll software allows businesses to scale with ease and provides an accurate database for employers to run reconciliation reports and perform payment analysis.

Most cutting-edge technologies easily integrate into your accounting platform. We leverage these technologies to minimise your costs.

Employees can also have access to self-service functions like downloading pay slips, requesting leave online and submitting timesheets. All in one place, easily accessible on a laptop or mobile device.

Confidentiality

At Zeros Matters, we understand the repercussions that occur when confidentiality is breached in a payroll and HR environment. We ensure that all your data is encrypted in cloud payroll services software and access is vigilantly controlled through approvals levels in your business.

Payroll Compliance

The Fair Work Act 2009 lays down the statutory requirements that all Australian businesses must comply with. The act applies across all types of businesses regardless of size and industry, except for a few exceptions, mostly in Western Australia.

The National Employment Standards (NES) were created under the act to regulate minimum working standards in Australia. All employee contracts must comply with the NES standards.

  • Maximum weekly working hours.
  • Annual leave.
  • Personal/care leave.
  • Parental leave and other entitlements.
  • Long services leave.
  • Community services leave.
  • Requests for flexible working arrangements.
  • Notice of termination and redundancy pay.
  • Public holidays.
  • Casual employment information statement.
  • Provision of fair work information statement.

It is important to note for businesses, that Australian statutory employment requirements are constantly evolving as legislation changes and might differ between states. Business owners must stay abreast of the legal requirements to avoid fines and penalties, costly back-pay orders and reputation-damaging employee claims.

Superannuation (Pension) Support

Superannuation is a mandatory system of placing a minimum percentage of your income into an investment fund for your retirement.

  • Employers must pay at least 11% of the ordinary time earnings (OTE) into an employee/employer-selected super fund. It will increase to 12% on the 1st of July 2025. This is called the super guarantee.  It’s important to note that OTE includes shift work, commission bonuses, termination payments, annual leave and some allowances.
  • Superannuation must be paid quarterly at a minimum.
  • If superannuation is not paid in full and on time the employer is obliged to pay a super guarantee charge. Employees who suspect they have not been receiving their full super contribution from the employer can also take an employer to the Fair Work Ombudsman. As a business owner, this is a scenario that should be avoided to prevent any back payments and interest charges.

Here at Zeros Matters we can assist your business with payroll accounting services. We can guide you in understanding superannuation contributions, requirements, and updates and avoid any fines or paybacks due to non-compliance.

HR Intelligence

For most small businesses, keeping track of your employees’ confidential data, leave entitlements and benefit records is an additional burden and can often be neglected by staff members. As a business owner, you are legally required to keep the following employment records for 7 years.

  • Employee contracts detailing remuneration, leave allowances and work hours.
  • Reimbursements of work expenses.
  • Workers compensation insurance.
  • Superannuation contribution amount.

Cloud-based Australian payroll services assist business owners with reliable storage and tracking solutions. As your business grows, the processing power of the online payroll services will give your business insight into your payroll. This will help avoid litigation and the costs associated with it that result from non-compliance in storing your payroll data for the required seven years.
